As any new controversial product released on the market, electronic cigarettes have been included in several disputes concerning their real purpose.
One of the first subjects brought to the public attention is the effect that these new devices might have on teenagers or even on children. This segment of the market is one of the most vulnerable one and is is thought to be exposed to the temptation of buying e-cigs. Producers are believed to lure young people by emphasizing on the few so called harmless ingredients that an electronic cigarette is made of and the numerous flavors that a buyer can choose from. However, those who market such products sustain that they only address to the smokers and in addition to this, children couldn’t afford such products and moreover, they are not allowed by law to buy such devices.
It is also rumored about the e-cigs that their ingredients are not entirely known and that the main elements that are contained by them have not been exposed yet. In fact it has been clearly stated that nearly twenty ingredients are building an e-cigarette and that they all are less toxic than the ones we can find in a real cigarette.
The ethical voices in the media pleading for a non smoking society are totally convinced by the fact that the e-cigs are only a step forward to the worsening of the smoking statistics. On the other hand, is can be said that smoking is a personal matter that depends only on the individual.
